After Alabama football beat LSU on Saturday, head coach Nick Saban was spotted by cameras chatting with wide receiver Aaron Anderson, who transferred from the Crimson Tide to the Tigers during the offseason.

“You’d be playing more here than you are there,” Saban appeared to tell Anderson.

During his Thursday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Saban was asked about the moment and about how his relationships are with players who have transferred out of his program. He said that in the current day and age, he has to accept that players will have other people “externally affecting” how they think.

He said he and the other coaches try their best to explain to players how they can create value for themselves at Alabama.

“I think Aaron would’ve been playing a lot of football for us this year,” Saban said. “He’s an outstanding player. He’s a fine young man. We were happy to get him in recruiting. We hated to see him go. But these things aren’t personal to me.

“I want to support the player. I want to see him do well. I want to see all players be more successful in life because of the experience they had in college football. Having resentment toward guys that do it, I don’t do that and (Anderson is) from Louisiana, so I get it. It’s not personal to me.”

After the 42-28 win against LSU, Saban and his Alabama team are 8-1 on the season, 6-0 in league play and have a chance to clinch the SEC West with a victory Saturday at Kentucky. That game is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT and will be aired on ESPN.
